What does living your Best Life really mean?  Does it mean sitting on the beach every day, sipping piña coladas?  Spending every moment with your family in perfect harmony?  Or maybe it’s helping others, making a difference, and feeling like you’re contributing to the world?

The truth is that living your Best Life looks different for everyone.  There is no one way to live your Best Life.  Just as everybody is unique, so too is their Best Life.

It’s Not About the Picture-Perfect Life

Many people think living their Best Life means reaching some ideal — the dream house, the perfect job, the happy family.  But even when we ‘get there,’ we can still feel a quiet emptiness inside.  (A number of my friends have quietly confessed this to me.)

Maybe you’ve ticked all the boxes, but still feel like something’s missing.  Maybe you feel stuck, uncertain about your direction, or weighed down by self-doubt.  Or maybe you’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else that you’ve forgotten what you truly want.  If that sounds familiar, know that many others feel the same way.  (In fact, I’d venture a guess that a LOT of people feel the same way – especially women, after spending time raising little humans, and looking after the household.)

Your Best Life isn’t about what it looks like on the outside.  It’s about what it feels like on the inside.  And there is still time to reflect, and consider what you want your Best Life to look like – from the inside (your feelings), to the outside (friends, family, where you live, etc).  And remember, it doesn’t have to be flashy – it’s just about what makes you feel good on the inside.

Your Best Life Is About How You Feel

For me, living your Best Life means feeling fulfilled, peaceful, and empowered — no matter what you’re doing, or where you live.

It’s waking up with a sense of purpose.  It’s feeling content in your heart, even when life isn’t perfect.  It’s knowing that you’re living in alignment with your true, inner self — not trying to live up to someone else’s version of success.

When you live this way, even small moments feel meaningful — a walk in nature, a laugh with a friend, a quiet cup of tea.  You begin to feel connected, balanced, and whole.

Fulfilment Doesn’t Have to Be ‘Big’

So often, people think their purpose needs to be something huge — like starting a charity, or changing the world.  But your purpose can be as simple as being kind, raising your family with love, creating something beautiful, or spreading joy in small ways.

This is something that came up for one of my first students in my Awaken Your Soul Purpose course.  She thought, based on courses she’d done, and family pressure, that life purpose had to something big, and she felt like she was ‘failing’.  She realised, through this course, that she was actually already living her Best Life – and the guilt fell away.   "When I first saw my own Whispers of the Soul (from this course), I thought 'That's what I do!'  It was spot on!  I feel that my Soul Purpose has been validated.  Growing up, various people and courses contented that you needed to the absolute best you can be, at all times, and rise to the top of the pile - be the top leader, the best author, etc.  I felt that if I wasn't making a 'significant contribution' (i.e. that I was the best at something that people can see), then I was 'failing' somehow - that I wasn't 'doing enough'. 

There are worker bees as well as people who are making a more visible 'significant contribution' - however the courses (and some people) tended to ignore that.  This course has shown me that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing - and that I don't need to be 'flashy', or the 'absolute best' at something - I can just be me, contributing in my own small way, adding my own wisdom and kindness to the world - which is significant to me and my family and community, but not in a showy 'significant contribution' that some of the courses can sometimes push pretty hard.  This course has shown me that I can be happy and content exactly as I am, knowing that I am contributing according to my Soul Purpose." 

Living your Best Life isn’t about how much you achieve. 

It’s about feeling that you’ve used your gifts (whatever you feel them to be), contributed to the world in some way (even if it’s being kind, or raising a family with love, or helping others when you can), and you’ve made peace with who you are (in a good way – not feeling resigned to ‘this is who I am – how sad’). 

It’s liking who you are, and where you are, and feeling content with what you're doing.  For many people, it’s also feeling that you’ve grown as a person (although not everyone feels a need to do that). 

That, to me, is the heart of fulfilment. 

(And for me personally, I’d also like to feel that I’ve reached for my potential – that I’m learning and growing all the time, stretching myself, and getting out of my comfort zone. ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway.’)

1.  What if I don’t know what makes me happy anymore?

That’s more common than you might think.  When life gets busy or overwhelming, it’s easy to lose touch with what lights you up.  Start small — notice when you smile, feel calm, or lose track of time (in a good way).  Those moments are clues to what brings you joy.

2.  How do I live my Best Life when I’m struggling financially or emotionally?

Living your Best Life doesn’t mean everything has to be perfect first.  It’s about creating moments of peace and gratitude — right where you are.  Small daily choices — like breathing deeply, walking outside, or journaling your feelings — can help you start feeling lighter, even in hard times.  Listing three things in your life that you’re grateful for, morning and night, helps as well.  They can even be simple things, like having a roof over your head, good health, and food on the table.

3.  What if people around me don’t understand my changes?

Growth can make others uncomfortable, especially if it challenges their own comfort zones.  Stay kind, but stay true to yourself.  The people meant for you will support your evolution — and new, aligned connections will appear as you become more authentically you.

4.  Can I live my Best Life and still have bad days?

Yes, absolutely!  Living your Best Life doesn’t mean you’re happy 24/7 . It means you handle the ups and downs with awareness, and compassion.  You see challenges as growth opportunities, rather than setbacks.  You build your resilience.

5.  What role does self-care play in living your Best Life?

A big one!  Self-care isn’t selfish — it’s how you recharge your energy, and keep your light shining.  Nourishing your body, resting your mind, and doing things you love, help you stay balanced, centered, and aligned with your purpose.

6.  Is it too late to start living my Best Life?

No, it’s not.  Whether you’re 25 or 75, every day is a chance to realign with your truth.  The moment you decide to live with more purpose, and joy — that’s when your Best Life begins.

7.  How can I stay on track once I start making changes?

Check in with yourself regularly.  Journaling, meditation, or even a quiet walk can help you reconnect with your ‘why.’  Celebrate progress, forgive slip-ups, and remind yourself — growth isn’t linear.  You’re still moving forward.

8.  What if I’m afraid to leave my comfort zone?

Fear is natural.  It’s your mind’s way of keeping you safe.  But staying comfortable often means staying small.  Take small, loving steps toward what excites you — courage grows with practice.  And if you someone who supports your growth — maybe they can help you take steps forward, by attending a new class with you, or helping and supporting you.

Your Soul Purpose acts like a compass — it guides your choices, brings clarity, and fills your days with meaning.  When you’re aligned with it, life feels more natural, joyful, and authentic.
